Jaime Novoa works for Startupxplore. As Start-ups tend to be the force in changing the world. Eurppean start-ups have had an important role. The most obvious recent example is probably Denmark's Skype changing the way we communicate. Jaime shares his insight on the purpose of Startupxplore's role in the European start-up scene.
Born with one clear objective: to bring more transparency to the European startup funding ecosystem and to become the biggest startup funding community in Europe.
Prior to building the company we had been involved with the Spanish startup ecosystem for many years, getting to know startups, investors, accelerators and other key players within the ecosystem. We quickly realized that there was a significant lack of transparency within the sector -and also at a European level- and we decided to build a platform to connect startups and investors, offering the tools and information necessary to both parties to make wise investment decisions and also fundraise through Startupxplore.
How Startupxplore works
When someone visits Startupxplore they can quickly find the best startup database in the old continent, as well as investors (Venture Capital firms and business angels), accelerators and other entities. Each profile on our site (be it from investors or startups) includes relevant data, such as investor’s criteria, business information from startups, etc; all with the purpose of making startup investing easier for all parties.
When building Startupxplore we thought long and hard about how we could connect startups and investors in a more efficient and simple way, and we found in syndicate investing (or funding) the best way to achieve that. A method that includes a lead investor, backers and a startup and that we believe it will transform startup fundraising at the early stage.
The future of the ecosystem and Startupxplore’s role
It’s not hard to look at the future and see a time when the amount of information available to investors and startups is vast and accurate. A time when wearable technology rules the world, fintech has transformed traditional banking and financial institutions and health is no longer delivered exclusively at hospitals, but also via mobile phones and other technology devices.
In essence, a time when technology is more ubiquitous than ever and it affects every single aspect in our lives. We believe we will see this before 2020 and Startupxplore will play a key role in this development.
